Meet Sticky Henderson! Here are her thoughts about Ghosh's Yoga College Teacher Training:

Since Ghosh’s Yoga College began its teacher training program for international students in 2015, most (if not all) of the students who have attended, had already completed other teacher trainings. They came to this training to build on the experience they already had. I was the only one in my class (Fall 2016) who had not taken previous teacher trainings. Many students in my group had accomplished several. Many were studio owners. I came to this training with almost no experience as a teacher, but plenty of experience as a student.
What I took away from my experience at the Ghosh College is that each student has very different needs and one size does not fit all. It's not just about individualizing postural sequences, it can be about individualizing the posture. The Ghosh Teacher Training focuses on therapy. This means recognizing that students coming to you have injuries or illnesses which may preclude them from attaining certain aspects of postural form.
I’m so grateful to have completed this yoga therapy teacher training first, before any other training. It has instilled a strong sense of purpose in my teaching. That purpose is to improve the health of each individual student. That is the main focus. That is why we practice yoga… to improve our health

Meet Courtney Dunn! Here's what she had to say about Ghosh's Yoga College Teacher Training:

The combination of valuable information and Indian experience resulted in a life altering experience. There is nowhere else where one can learn about yoga therapeutics from the source and in the house where it all began. The presence of Bishnu Ghosh could be felt throughout the training, and this was extremely empowering and inspirational.

Meet Scott Lamps! Here are his thoughts about Ghosh's Yoga College Teacher Training:

Studying therapeutic and prescriptive yoga at Ghosh's College transformed my teaching more than any other program I've done. It shifted my perspective: Instead of seeing a classroom, I started seeing individuals. Instead of seeing the rough outlines of postures and their benefits, I started filling in the details of why these things work, when we should use them and when we should avoid them.

"I attended the Ghosh Yoga College in November 2016 and completed the 3 week training course. After teaching Bikram yoga for 7 years, and running a studio for 6 years, I wanted to go back to the roots of our lineage of yoga. This training not only solidified what we do in the Bikram yoga class, but also gave me a deeper understanding of the history and connection to the Ghosh family and Yogananda’s teachings.
Since returning from the training I now teach 1-to-1 sequences or prescriptions, as needed. In addition to my Bikram yoga classes, I have also now added an Intermediate class based on the Ghosh Yoga teachings as well as yoga conditioning classes.
My experience at the Ghosh Yoga College was eye-opening! It was my first trip to India and so I was enthralled by the culture and spirit of the city of Kolkatta. Everyone at the college and the Mitri family were so welcoming and friendly and made us all feel as if we were part of the family. I made some life-long friends and continue to stay in contact with many of those on the training. Many thanks to Ida who made the transition between arrival and settling into the college quite seamless.
For me, this training came at a crucial point in my teaching career and it really ignited a fire in my belly to take my teachings and practice to the next level."

"In November 2016, on my first trip to India I completed the 3 week training course at the Ghosh's Yoga College in Calcutta. After teaching for 15 years it was a freeing and personal experience for me. The opportunity of being in India and Calcutta, which are very rich in history, made this experience epic! Undeniably, it is a real honor and a privilege to have attended the training at the Ghosh College. It was a life changing experience and I am delighted to have finally made it to the source of this lineage — Bishnu Ghosh and his methods. There is an Indian expression: “A guest is respected just like a God”. That is exactly what it felt like. Tumtum and everyone at the college and the Mitra family were so warm, welcoming and accommodating. They made sure that we all felt like family. I cannot thank them enough for this. Ghosh’s method is an expansive and comprehensive approach complementing Bikram’s Beginner series. I am very grateful to continue Ghosh’s tradition. After returning from the training I began teaching one-on-one sequences. I incorporated the Yoga Therapy into my personal practice; I am able to also use these approaches with students that struggle with various personal issues and address their individual needs. I use many of the techniques in workshops and other classes I lead. This has impacted my understanding of yoga and has inspired me to further my studies in yoga therapy. I can’t wait to go back!"

"The Ghosh Yoga Therapy training is rooted in tradition; tradition in the lineage of Ghosh yoga which the legacy has lived through the Bikram series and other variations which have branched from the infamous Hot 26 & 2. Ghosh yoga is rooted in therapy, which means that we slow things down and really zoom in. In taking the training you learn how to create a 'yoga prescription' specific to a persons ailments in the body / mind. Just as Bikram's yoga was created as a prescription with the Western body in mind.
I have worked with students who have shoulder issues, common back ailments, screw loose brain, etc and because my toolbox has grown with more exercises and postures I can dive into the toolbox and I can suggest what can help aid in relief and in most cases, with a consistent commitment, permanent relief.
One of the most profound aspects in my experience from the beginning of my yoga journey, as a student is how intelligent our bodies are & how just moving the body in certain ways, with breath, can create relief and changes I never anticipated.
In this training you learn exercises and postures that empower people to take back their health - whether the prescription is used as a stand alone for them or in conjunction with an existing yoga practice or any other form of exercise or Western medicine.
The training allows you to go deeper into the roots of Ghosh lineage and as a teacher it has given me what is needed to reach people who may have never stepped foot in a yoga class or those who practice, but just need that little extra attention. It has expanded my knowledge base of healing with yoga and with this, more lives can be transformed via the powers of the postures."
